       <title>Randall Attends Leadership Southern Maryland</title>
       <link>http://labs.zenetex.com/Articles/11</link>
<description>Cindy Randall, Vice President of Navy IT Services for Zenetex, is currently attending Leadership Southern Maryland (LSM), a nine-month program specifically designed to further develop leaders in the area for regional collaboration. Randall was nominated for the program by her colleague, Gery VanderVliet, Executive Vice President of Business Development for Zenetex. The Board of Directors of Leadership Southern Maryland reviewed and approved her candidacy.<br />"Cindy was a perfect choice for the LSM program,” said VanderVliet, also a recent graduate of LSM. “First, she is a lifelong resident of Southern Maryland and cares deeply about the direction our region is heading, and wants to make a difference. Second, she is a dynamic and active leader. She has traits that get things done, which is exactly what our region needs. And third, she has executive experience. She understands the politics of business and regional activities, and knows how to progress an agenda through strong networking connections and building consensus.”<br />The LSM program focuses on developing a community trusteeship and the new paradigm between leadership and community trusteeship. Community trustees make a personal and conscience decision to use their skills and leadership ability to make a better future for their community, to empower others to grow and to lead with passion and authority. One of the primary goals of the program is to attract and educate participants on the issues facing the region, then encourage those leaders to work together to solve them. When Randall graduates in May of 2010, she will have unprecedented insight into regional issues, programs, politics, and planning that she would never have been able to garner outside of this program. Through this knowledge and insight, she will be able to apply her skills to make a difference, and enact change.<br />"LSM is broadening my scope and knowledge of Southern Maryland, and in particular St. Mary’s County,” said Randall. “This program is further developing my leadership skills and problem solving ability as well as other skills including communication, collaboration and motivation. I look forward to being a more informed citizen of Southern Maryland and working on projects that enhance the quality of life in the area.”<br />As the Southern Maryland region continues to grow, the multitude of infrastructure and civic programs must be carefully managed and led. With a cadre of future leaders like Randall, the region will have the ability to formulate and institute change for the good of all constituents.</description>
